Does anyone have a authenticated checklist for gymnosperms for India.Apparently there are less than 100 species of gymnosperms in India. It would be great to get a checklist and with the help of members on IBP we can try to populate the list with current photos, locations and other information so we complete this group. This information then becomes available freely to anyone interested in gymnosperms. The Western Ghats have very few species, but most are probably in the Himalayan temperate region. And if you know of botanists interested in this group, please ask them to help identify and post and be part of this growing community of enthusiastic botanists, both amatuers like me and professionals. One day we will have a species page for every plant species in India.
We should do a similar excercise for different groups of plants. Lichens are the next on the list:)

Dear Ramkishore, is that list available digitally. If you can scan and send it to us we will have it digitized and uploaded with credit to Raizada abd Sahni and of course FRI. If someone has a more revised list we can look at that as well against the Catalogue of life list that we use as a global reference for species lists on the portal.
